The main character V and a local thug Jackie hired Dexter "Dex" (A Local Fixer) to steal a new biochip in 2077 from Arasaka Corporation. The name of the chip is "The Relic". They steal that biochip and their plan goes very well but suddenly, an incident happens. In which the son of his teacher Yorinobu killed Saburo Arasaka (The leader of the megacop). He starts to cover up that murder by poisoning and he triggers a security sweep.

During all this incident, the Netrunner of Arasaka kills T-Bug. They make escaping successful but Jackie gets critical wounds. After knowing the protective case is damaged, Jackie starts to force him to use the biochip in their head. But Dex was shot down in the head of V and left him to die. He survives this murder because of the digital ghost and now he has the memory of a Rock Star named Johnny Silverhand who died in 2023. Viktor Vector tells him that he survives due to the bullet of Dex which turns the biochip into resurrection nanotech. This technology repairs the damage but overwrites the memory as well. From the memory of Jhonny, V finds that he had a girlfriend named Alt Cunningham in 2013.

• They (Arasaka) upload him into Mikoshi until they find a suitable host body and maintain their life expectancy in their body.

OR

• Allow Johnny to take full control permanently, if it happens, Johnny will give respect to his friends and start a new life after leaving Night City.
